Ajith Kumar
Research Assistant
Hello everyone! I’m Ajith Kumar, a Research Assistant at the Schizophrenia Research Foundation (India), working with the Youth Mental Health Department. With a Master’s in Psychology and a Diploma in Ashtanga Yoga, (I’m deeply interested in creating supportive, youth-driven spaces for conversations around mental health). My journey began during my internships at SCARF and NIEPMD, where I worked with schools and communities in Chennai, and it has since grown into research and practice that connect young people with mental health literacy and well-being.
Beyond my work, I am passionate about blending psychology, community, and nature. I’ve initiated eco-education projects in schools, planted over 4,000 trees with volunteers, and set up terrace gardens that bring sustainability into everyday life. An outdoor enthusiast at heart, I’m into athletics, swimming, yoga, and archery—you might even occasionally find me climbing trees! I believe that caring for both our minds and the environment can open up healthier, more connected ways of living.
