Social Worker with a Specialization in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work

I am Vijayalakshmi, a trained social worker with a specialization in medical and psychiatric social work. My journey at SCARF (I) began as a Research Assistant in the First Episode Psychosis program, which laid a strong foundation for my career. Over time, I transitioned into the Youth Mental Health Project, where I had the opportunity to work closely with college students and contribute to various initiatives as a trained professional.

SCARF (I) has been a generous platform that continuously nurtures learning and growth for researchers and professionals. Recently, I joined the clinical team and now coordinate the Resource for Youth Mental Health Services (rYMs) space. In this role, I am encouraged to explore, design, and implement innovative ideas that promote youth wellness.

I bring enthusiasm and creativity to my work, always open to experimenting with new approaches. While I may sometimes test unconventional ideas, I see every challenge as an opportunity to learn, adapt, and return with renewed energy. In this YMH department my commitment lies in creating safe, engaging, and meaningful spaces for young people to express themselves and build resilience.
For me, my colleagues are more than just team members; they are like my personal belongings in this professional journey, a source of strength, support, and shared inspiration.
